The X files Rewatching marathon season II

The second season of this famous tv serie is very well made and refines the formula. In the first half of the season there is not much Scully, caused by the pregancy of Anderson, this culminated with the famous abduction of the character, an event that is portrayed still today in the major mythology plot of the show. This situation was not planned at all.
Anyway many good episodes during this season, and there's even the first comedic episode, the ones that are my favourite of all.

List of all episodes by my preference order.

1. "The Host" (2) – Classic episode, one of the first that you think about when you're thinking of the X-files, just like "Squeeze". The formula is simple yet genial: they took one of the scariest thing we have in nature, a flukeworm, and used the mutation plot device to construct the story. The costume of the monster is great and the story is simple and yet well made. Just a classic of television.

2. "Humbug" (20) - The first comedic episode in the X-files. Weird and funny, it's not my favourite of the category but of course it's a must watch!

3. "Irresistible" (13) – One of the few episodes in the whole serie which lack the parnormal element. The writer tried to scary us showing the deviated psyche of men like Donnie Pfaster, who appears like a necrophiliac but edulcurated for the tv standards of "merely" a killer with the fetish for dead hands and hair.

4. "Die Hand Die Verletzt" (14) – Another creepy and well made episode about satanic rituals. The setting and the story are incredible and the plot twist is great.

5. "Dod Kalm" (19) – In this episode Mulder and Scully are rapidly aging on a ship in the sea of Norway. Great setting and story writing.

6. "F. Emasculata" (22) – Another great episode, this time the monster it's a lethal disease spreading in a prison.

* 7. "Colony" (16) / "End Game" (17) – First appearence of the alien bounty hunter which I always called "the fake Arnold" or "Arnold of the poor" for the scenic presence of Brian Thompson (the bounty hunter) and for the fact that he is in fact an alien Terminator.

*8. "Duane Barry" (5) "Ascension" (6) "One Breath" (8) - I already wrote that all the situation of Scully and his abduction was threated well. Very emotional episodes and great acting performances.

*9. "Little Green Men" (1)"Anasazi" (25) – As of season one, all mythologycal episodes are great, the first one and the finale are no exceptions.

10. "Red Museum" (10) – The vegan cult made this episode.

11. "Sleepless" (4) – Interesting MOTW story and also Krycek is introduced.

12. "Blood" (3) – Nice episode where the focus are subliminal messages which induce people to kill.

13. "The Calusari" (21) – Nice and interesting story about a boy possessed by some sort of demon.

14. "Excelsis Dei" (11) – Nice and simple ghost story.

15. "Soft Light" (23) – A shadow killer here (litterally), pretty meh episode with major plot hole.

16. "Our Town" (24) – Same as of "soft light". Ok episode, not one of the best here.

17. "Aubrey" (12) – Reicarnation again, forgettable.

18. "Fresh Bones" (15) – Vodoo this time, it's a pretty forgettable story.

19. "Fearful Symmetry" (18) – The one with the invisible animals... not the worst ever but one of the few worsts from season 2.

20. "Firewalker" (9) – This is one of those episodes that I just can't finish as I'm always falling aslep while watching.

21. "3" (7) – Only episode without Scully, I am with those who could not stand Mulder relation with that weird vampire girl, besides story itself it's pretty boring.

    * mythological episodes
